General Dynamics Awarded $65 Million to Maintain and Enhance the U.S. Military’s Advanced Wideband Networking Waveform Software
Wideband networking waveform enables unprecedented capacity speed and connectivity for voice, data and imagery moving through tactical networks.
"The Wideband Networking Waveform does the heavy lifting needed to quickly and efficiently move large amounts of data from the core of the network to the tactical edge," said Chris Brady, vice president of Assured Communications for General Dynamics C4 Systems. "The work done by General Dynamics will ensure this waveform remains effective and relevant today and into the future, regardless of which radio or communications device is using it."
Software support and maintenance will increase reliability and improve performance of WNW software thus increase capabilities within the tactical network. Planned WNW enhancements include increased scalability and throughput adding capability for commanders while on-the-move.
A waveform provides the transport of information through a network including the physical signal, the protocols, the security and the routing functions.
General Dynamics C4 Systems is the prime contractor for the JTRS Handheld, Manpack, Small Form Fit radio program.
