Digital Modular Radio (DMR)
Overview

General Dynamics, a leading supplier of next-generation Software Defined Radios (SDRs), is proud to be a supplier of the U.S. Navy’s Digital Modular Radio (DMR) systems. As part of the DMR program, General Dynamics is delivering platforms capable of interoperability with tactical systems such as DAMA, HaveQuick, and SINCGARS and data link coverage for Link-4A and Link 11. These systems are fully programmable and include embedded software-programmable cryptography, taking fleet communications into the 21st century.
The Navy is committed to migrating DMR to Software Communication Architecture (SCA) compliance to allow the use of JTRS JPO-provided waveforms to meet near-term requirements.
Software Redefinable
- On-site or remote programming via dedicated LAN or WAN
- Runs on Windows NT laptop (provided in package)
- Programmable RF channels require no change in hardware
- Software selectable features
Migration/Interoperability
- Diverse legacy and emerging networks interoperate via an RF connection
Secure
- 4-Channel, full duplex gateway system allows independent security configuration
Versatile
- Flexible infrastructure
- Implements national and international standards
- Allows operational characteristics of each channel to be redefined as required by changing communications needs
- Stores a minimum of 12 waveforms
- Multiple units can be networked and controlled by one SNMP manager
- Utilizes open standards to promote third-party application software and portability
Reduced Cost of Ownership
- Lowers training, maintenance, inventory, installation, development and field upgrade costs
