Medical, Dental, Disability and Life Insurance

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies has a flexible benefits program that combines comprehensive protection with choice among plans and coverage levels.

Employees may choose the amount of protection needed from the following plans:

Medical Coverage
Dental Coverage
Vision Coverage
Disability
Life Insurance & Accidental Death & Dismemberment

Medical Benefits

Employees have the option of selecting coverage for employee only, for employee and spouse, employee and dependent child/ren*, or employee and family (eligible dependents). The company pays a substantial portion of the cost of employees' health and welfare benefits. Employee premiums are payroll deducted. (*Eligible dependents to age 19 or 24 if full-time student.)

Different levels of coverage are represented by different options within each plan:

  • Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs) in most locations. A PPO is a group of doctors, hospitals. and other health care professions who agree to discount their normal fees and adhere to external medical reviews for PPO participants
  • Managed Health Care Organization(s) (HMO) at a limited number of locations

     

Dental Benefits

The Dental plan coverage levels may include employee only, employee and spouse, employee and dependent child/ren, or employee and family (eligible dependents).

Vision Benefits

The Vision plan provides various levels of coverage for eye examinations, lenses, frames and contact lenses, as well as discounts on laser surgery.

Short-Term Disability (STD)

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies provides eligible employees with a Short-Term Disability (STD) plan. The STD plan pays benefits only for approved absences related to the employee's own illness (e.g., the plan does not pay for benefits for absences related to dependents' illnesses.)

Long-Term Disability (LTD)

When an employee cannot work for an extended period due to serious illness or injury, LTD coverage works with social security and other benefits to replace a percentage of the employee's pay. LTD coverage may be purchased at a level of coverage equal to 60% of employee's monthly pay.

Basic Life

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies provides employees with basic life insurance coverage in the amount of $35,000.

Basic Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies provides employees with basic AD&D insurance coverage in the amount of $35,000.

Supplemental Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment

Employees may elect to purchase additional life insurance and AD&D insurance for themselves and spouse. Employees may also elect to purchase additional life insurance for their dependent children at group rates. Evidence of Insurability (EOI) for employee and/or spouse may be required at some levels of coverage.

Disease Management Program

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies offers a Disease Management program pertaining to the following diseases:

 

  • Asthma
  • Heart Disease
  • Diabetes
  • High Cholesterol
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Digestive Disorder

Vacation

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies grants vacation time to full-time regular and some of its part-time regular employees in accordance with the following schedule.

Accredited Service Time

Vacation Eligibility

Six months of service
hired before or on June 30

Five days after
six-month anniversary

Six months of service
hired on or after July 1

Ten days the following year
at six-month anniversary

One year of service

Ten days

Seven years of service

Fifteen days

Twelve years of service

Twenty days

Twenty years of service

Twenty-five days

The vacation benefit is administered on a calendar year basis.

When an individual leaves the Company, accrued unused vacation days will be paid.

Holidays

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies will observe ten (10) company holidays.

Education Reimbursements

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies provides the opportunity for employees who meet certain qualifications to receive reimbursement for tuition and certain other expenses associated with approved educational programs, up to a maximum of $5,000 per year.

Up to $100 per year reimbursement for an employee's own membership in a fitness facility or program.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

Spending accounts allow employees to pay for certain health care and dependent care expenses with before-tax dollars. They reduce taxable income, so they save employees money. Employees may enroll in the following two flexible reimbursement accounts:

 

  • Health Care Account
    (may contribute up to a maximum of $5,000 pre-tax dollars)
  • Dependent Day Care Account
    (may contribute up to a maximum of $5,000 pre-tax dollars)

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential resource designed to provide clinical and non-clinical assistance to employees experiencing problems that may affect their general well-being or job performance. The EAP is intended to promote behavioral health, while respecting the individual's right to privacy. The EAP is a company-provided program offered to full-time and part-time employees and their immediate family members at no cost.

Adoption Assistance Program

In continuing efforts to help employees achieve a better balance between work and family life, General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies provides employees with an Adoption Assistance Program. The program supports General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies' philosophy of providing the flexibility necessary to meet the individual needs of our diverse employee population. The Adoption Assistance Program is available to regular full-time and regular part-time employees. General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies will reimburse full-time employees up to $4,000 for covered expenses when they adopt a child who is under 18 years old, or a child 18 years of age or older who is physically or mentally incapable of caring for himself or herself. These reimbursement amounts apply to each child who is adopted, once the adoption is final.

For expenses to be covered, they must be for costs incurred for a legal adoption while actively employed by General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies. Employees must be on payroll at the time an assistance payment is made. Other restrictions apply as outlined in the program.

Legal Plan

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies' optional Legal plan provides employees and eligible dependents access to experienced, local network attorneys in addition to a wide range of covered legal services for a monthly fee paid through payroll deduction.

Savings and Stock Investment Plan

The General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies Savings Plan is a 401(k) plan that lets employees save and invest money now to help meet some financial needs during retirement. All regular full-time and regular part-time employees of General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies who are twenty-one (21) years of age or older are eligible to join the General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies Savings Plan on the first day of the calendar month following 30 days of employment and paid through the payroll system. The Savings Plan is a personal savings, investment and tax deferral plan to which employees may contribute up to 25% of pay on a pre-tax and post-tax basis. Any contributions made during the plan year will be matched 75 cents for each $1 contributed up to 6% of eligible pay. Company matching contributions will be made each pay period. In addition, if you are age fifty (50) or more before the end of the calendar year, you may make a "catch-up contribution" in addition to the amount otherwise permitted up to the maximum amount permitted by law. Employees are always 100% vested in their own contributions and any related earnings while employed at General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies Employees become 100% vested in the company match upon completion of two (2) years of service. The General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies Savings Plan offers withdrawal and loan features.
