Software Defined Communications (SDC)
Migration/Interoperability

Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS)
Solving Interoperability Across Services
Software Defined Communications offer the versatility to host
many applications, providing connectivity with installed communications
systems. In addition, new capabilities are added to meet future
requirement, enhancement, and mission needs without disturbing
communications with the installed systems. This provides a seamless
and orderly migration into the future while leveraging investments
in installed systems.
Features:
- Interoperate between legacy and new modulation types and link
radios with limited frequency bands
- Migrate from legacy systems with limited frequency coverage
to new systems and new authorized frequencies on a planned basis
- Flexible acquisition through planned phase-in/phase-out of
the legacy products, avoiding a total shut-down and restart or the
need to carry multiple devices
- Handle multiple voice-to-digital protocols (CVSD, IMBE, LPC,
etc.), including both serial and parallel I/O protocols
- Convert these and other protocols to provide real-time communications
between previously incompatible devices
- Bridging, cross-banding, and simulcast to tie similar and dissimilar
nets together for seamless connectivity and interoperability
