Joint Battlespace Infosphere (JBI)

Overview

The Joint Battlespace Infosphere (JBI) Mercury software provides a flexible, secure information management layer for network-centric systems such as defined in Net Centric Enterprise Services (NCES) in support of Global Information Grid Enterprise Services (GIG ES). JBI Mercury Service Provider software provides publish, subscribe, query, and other functions through a Common Client Application Program Interface (CAPI) as defined by the open community process at http://www.infospherics.org with technical direction from Air Force Research Labs http://www.rl.af.mil/programs/jbi/.

JBI Mercury is developed with focus on the following features:

Feature	Description
Flexibility	The JBI solution is comprised of components that can be dynamically connected (dynamic plug-and-play connectors), configured to meet mission requirements (context policies), and replaced (technology change).
Federation	The ability to achieve ad-hoc intergration of new components as they enter or leave the network provides features for flexibility and reliability.
Distributed Security	Integrate emerging commercial standards for Federated Network Identity.
Low Risk	Leverage the COTS products, only DoD specific needs are developed. General Dynamics has an SEI CMMI® Level 5 rating and is ISO 9001 certified.
Mgmt Features	Administration tool provides complete access to manage all elements in the distributed environment.
Compliance	Provide a compliant Client API including options: Java, C#, Web Services, and Web Explorer designed for integration into NCES supporting C2ERA/NESI.

This overview of JBI provides an introduction to the Joint Battlespace Infosphere approach and features provided by JBI Mercury.

Beyond JBI Mercury, General Dynamics C4 Systems, and Air Force Research Labs, Sensis Corporation have teamed on the JBI Client Adpater Contract to develop and deliver a set of Joint Battlespace Infosphere (JBI) clients and client adapters that together support a compelling and operationally realistic military scenario in a JBI context.
