The General Dynamics Difference
Engineering Capabilities
The General Dynamics engineering team has over two decades of design leadership in mobile computing products. Our core competencies include:
- Electrical design for system boards, software integration, mechanical RF/Wireless engineering that is specialized in design and integration of 3G cellular technologies.
- Mechanical and electrical design for hardware and product applications involving operation in harsh environments such as shock, operating temperature, vibration and dust/water sealing.
Customization
We have the ability to modify our COTS products, repackage components into other form factors and custom design high performance rugged computing solutions to meet program specific requirements. Our ability to customize our existing products allows our customers to deploy multiple variants of a common computing platform with a commonality of spares and replacement parts to reduce maintenance and overall life-cycle costs.
Wireless Integration
Beyond its state of the art hardware solutions, one of our key differentiators is our wireless integration expertise, which includes a comprehensive offering of wireless mobility solutions, providing mobile workers ubiquitous and roaming coverage, as well as capabilities that enable seamless upgrades as new wireless technologies emerge in the market.
Security
One of our main areas of expertise lies in developing products that provide our customers with uncompromised security. General Dynamics’ Tadpole family of mobile thin clients support today’s urgent demand for Cyber Security solutions needed to protect our nation’s critical data from theft and unauthorized access. With no local user storage, memory or software, our thin clients are resistant to local system crashes and the resultant loss of data, as well as highly secure from viruses, worms and denial of service attacks. Unlike other thin clients on the market, all applications run on reliable, secure, centrally managed servers making them the perfect solution for trusted operating environments that are required to work with multiple security networks.
